RST PROGRAMMES
Practical, independently developed training designed to build confidence, improve communication and strengthen safer workplace behaviour.
Dynamic De-escalation & Conflict Management
Develop the practical skills and confidence to recognise, prevent and de-escalate challenging situations.
Conflict rarely appears without warning. Changes in behaviour, communication, environment and perceived threat can all influence whether a situation settles or escalates.
RST Dynamic De-escalation & Conflict Management has been developed to help learners recognise early indicators of escalation, understand the factors influencing behaviour and use practical communication strategies to reduce unnecessary conflict.
The programme is focused on safe, realistic workplace application. It does not teach physical intervention or breakaway techniques. Instead, learners explore communication, positioning, boundaries, decision-making and when disengagement or further support is appropriate.
Topics include:
understanding conflict and escalation
recognising early warning signs
situational and behavioural risk factors
verbal and non-verbal communication
active listening and rapport
practical de-escalation strategies
professional boundaries
maintaining personal safety
disengagement and escalation
post-incident considerations
realistic workplace scenarios

Dynamic Risk Assessment
Build confidence in recognising changing risk and making proportionate decisions in real time.
Workplace conditions do not always remain as planned. People, environments and operational demands can change quickly, requiring employees to recognise emerging hazards and reconsider what is safe and appropriate.
RST Dynamic Risk Assessment develops practical decision-making around changing workplace risk. Learners consider how to identify hazards, assess what has changed, select proportionate controls and recognise when an activity should be paused or escalated.
Topics include:
hazard and risk recognition
changing operational conditions
dynamic assessment principles
likelihood and consequence
control measures
situational awareness
decision-making under pressure
personal and organisational boundaries
stopping, withdrawing and escalating
recording and communicating decisions
practical scenarios

Operational Communication & Effective Shift Handover
Improve the accuracy, clarity and reliability of information passed between people, teams and shifts.
Poor communication can create unnecessary risk, missed information and inconsistent decision-making. In operational environments, seemingly small gaps in information can have significant consequences.
RST Operational Communication & Effective Shift Handover develops practical communication skills for workplaces where information needs to be transferred clearly, accurately and at the right time.
Learners explore how assumptions, ambiguity and incomplete information affect operational performance, and practise structured methods for confirming understanding and completing effective handovers.
Topics include:
clear operational communication
recognising ambiguity and missing information
confirming understanding
questioning and clarification
structured information transfer
effective shift handover
prioritising important information
professional communication under pressure
common communication failures
practical workplace scenarios
